Need some advice from you yak fisherman. I am trying to decide between an Outback or Revolution for fishing in Colorado reservoirs. I plan to do some trolling, casting, and drifting.

This topic has been covered a few times on these forums. You might want to search them to get an idea of what's already been said. The first question that you're going to get is what type of conditions do you likely go out in. Most people like the Revo for places with more waves, or if you want to go longer distances. The Outback is going to be a bit more stable, but the Revo is VERY stable as well.

Try searching, then try adding some more specifics to what you do, or what you hope to do with the boats. That will help people give more accurate advice. We used to have a Revo and loved it.

I own one of each. The Outback is more roomy, is drier and very accommodating for gear, etc. Very stable.

The Revolution is less roomy, less dry in a chop and has less room to spread your stuff out. But it's faster and lighter.

If I was going for long distances to far away fishing grounds, I'd want the Revolution. For knocking around in a reservoir within a couple of so miles of the marina, the Outback is hard to beat.

I own two Revolutions and one Outback. The Outback was my first kayak and loved it. The Revolution though is just easier in my opinion. Especially when paddling. Although I have only flipped a kayak once it was in one of my Revolutions. I was new to kayaking and leaned too far when I found myself going into the overhanging vegetation by the bank. I don't think the Outback would have rolled on me, but its hard to tell. In any case I learned not to lean and to sit up (or at most just lean forward and down) and take what is coming to me if I end up going into overgrowth on the bank. One of my kayak partners has an Outback and I always notice that even on perfectly flat water the Outback hull slaps the water and makes a fair amount of noise even when casually peddling. The Revolution is much quieter as it cuts through the water easier.
I can't use the drink holder in the Revolution though, because my leg hits it with every peddle stroke. I end up using the bungee over the access hatch to hold my water bottles. This is not an issue in the Outback.
Like anything else it will come down to what you value as being the most important features, but you could always buy one of each! :D

Thank you Titan4 and Tom Kirkman for sharing your experience. After talking to others I think the revolution will best suit my needs. Thanks again for your response.

You're going to like either one you wind up with. Both are fantastic boats.
