Augaug, in a Philosophical way, you are right !!! But Chet provided the Literal answer, so he is the Winner too, so, to break the "tie", the first one to come to San Juan, gets the Rum, and the Avocados if they are not roten yet !!!!
My beloved "late" ( out of normal season ) Avocado Tree, was taken down by Irene, and landed on the Hobie. I will save a couple of pictures.
The sad thing is I pulled the Hobie out of the Beach yesterday to protect it from falling palm trees or the Ocean, and took it home where I though the Mountains will protect it from the winds. Can anybody post pictures if I send them ?

Ouch. I'm in the current projected path now, I'm going to install some anchors in the yard to hold things down, but I really can't get away from the trees. Maybe I should buy that boatus policy now...

I hope to someday have the opportunity to come and collect on this, you never know when I might show up.

Sorry to hear about your Avocado tree and Hobie, I did not realize it was a double loss. Glad there were no injuries though.

I will start removing the tree today, hopefully the Hobie is ok. The tree, I dont think it will survive. The Avocado Tree is a big loss because is a very rare "out of season" tree. It`s avocados are good to take in winter time, contrary to the normal and common one which is around this time. This avocados are gems because there are simply no-avocados in winter time here, I have never seen one before anywhere in this Island. I will try to grow a few seeds from the fallen avocados, to see if they germinate.

Hey guys we removed the tree from the Hobie............ Trampoline is torn in three-four places ( holes ), pontoons are fine, maybe a couple of superficial scratches, the only concern is, and this brings a question; How much side to side play should I find at the joint where the pontoons-vertical mounting bars/pipes ( the ones that mount to the four corners ). They are held by a bolt that goes from side to side. The tubes are solid going into the pontoons fiberglass, but they have play inside the mounting corners. How much play is it normal here ? I had noticed play here before, but now that I made a very carefull inspection for broken parts, I am more concerned about this.

they may have loosened up from impact or "stretched" the casting out a little. As long at it isn't cracked i think you should be OK. There are some topics on here on tightening them up. As long as the pylons are solid in the hull everything else is easy. If your concerned you can always find corners on EBAY.

Thought I would contribute my own tree photo. 60mph straight line winds. Knocked the boat off the trailer. Palm sized hole in port hull and cracked rudder. All in all could have been worse. These boats are solid!
