The other day I was paddling my Hobie Quest, when I discovered I was sinking. I sprinted towards the nearest shore, which was miles from the nearest road, and over a mile and a half of open water from where I had left my truck.

Running through a mental inventory of everything I had in my kayak, there seemed to be only one solution for repairing my kayak enough for a long paddle without ending up on the bottom of Tomales Bay. It required the aid of my lunch for later in the day (a burrito) and some bandaids from my first aid kit.

For the complete story, you can read the whole story on one of my latest blog posts- http://galenleeds.com/2011/10/09/how-to-keep-your-kayak-from-sinking-using-aluminum-foil-and-band-aids/

What has been everyone else's most creative repair moment and how well did it work? Mine worked perfectly, and I paddled many, many miles after fixing my Quest in the field...er.... beach....
