After eating breakfast at the "grill", I launched at 8am. The water was glass with no traffic. About half way up I saw a couple other boats and a group of kayakers that said they launch right at the dam. From willow beach to the dam is 12 miles. I found out that as the day warms-up, more elect. is used and here comes the water. The river rose a good 4 ft. I just barely made it to the dam at 5 pm. (no more plaque in my arteries) The float down was great. Well worth the trip. The last hour was nothing but black walls on each side and as many stars in the water as in the sky. I arrived back at willow beach at 8:30pm. This was my first river experience, 2 thumbs up. (revo 13 with st fins)

Nice - sounds like a great trip. There is a group from our offices that make that trip every year. Normally they take a couple of days though - sounds like you conquered it!!! Good job - post Pictures!!

There are better hot springs on the nevada side. I live in Boulder City and kayak the canyon every week. Use caution if you for a hike. Your kayak could be gone from rising water or high and dry when you get back.

Do you launch near the dam and exit at Nelson`s landing ? If not, which mile marker ? Are there more hot springs south of Willow beach ? Thank you.
