Hi, Sailing People,
I just found some ugly-looking cracking and crumbling in the port hull, aft, where the rudder pin goes through. Does anyone know if there is anything under the fibreglas back there - like maybe some nice steel reinforcment? I can probably make it look better with gelcoat, but if it's more than cosmetic I'll need some professional help to keep on having 2 rudders instead of one and a bum "steer".

is it the back part of the deck where the pin go thru, this should be cosmetic. most older boats this piece of glass is broken off, my fiberglass guy cuts it our to make nice round corners and finishes it off.

My port hull has a chunk missing there...can you post a picture of one that's been cut out with rounded corners?

Sounds like the boat has been trailered with the rudders on. It's probably just cosmetic damage.
