Hi, Im new to the hobie cat thing and need to figure out some stuff!
What is the purpose of the pin hole at the mast base and step?

Correct me if Im wrong...A pin goes thru as the mast is being raised/stepped to keep it in place and then taken off to allow mast to rotate when sailing??

And the other question..I have the Aussie jib halyard system...Will I need to use the cheek block at the mast base also or can this block be eliminated?

Thanks!

You're correct. You'll forget to install it only once when lowering the mast. By the way, don't forget to put the teflon mast chip in the base cup before stepping the mast.

You should still route the aussie halyard around the cheek block. This makes it easier to get halyard tension and takes load off the cleat.
