Just passed 25 registered. Looking to hit 30 by the end of August. Looking like a great event, with more 14s on the line than you'll ever be with again. www.hobiecatdivision7.org

Chris: It looks like the 14's will be the second largest HCA NAC of the year.
Great job by you and your fleet.

Well, glad you asked!
Including you, we'll have 28 pre-registered by the end of the week. I am confident that we'll end up at 35 boats.
The plan is this:
Weigh-in & registration Sept 21 from 5-8ish pm, then again starting at 7:30am Sept 22. Bob Curry will be doing a GEP tuning clinic using his boat as he sets up Friday 8am until he is done. Skips meeting will be posted then warning. Tim Olson is our Race Officer, and he likes to run races, and lots of them. We'll break for lunch, but its up to him and the wind as to when. When we're done, we've got a catered dinner from the local Tea Room served by Twila. She is someone you'll remember......
Anyway, cocktail and dinner are at the Clear Lake Yacht Club. Sat, is more of the same. Donuts, juice, coffee etc..... lunch brought in (really good sandwhiches from a local resturant) then a BBQ at the Yacht Club Sat night. Sunday, we'll race in the morning and try to have everyone on their trailers and heading out of town by 2pm. Trophies are 15 deep. Host hotel is Best Western 641-357-5253 (the number posted on the NOR is to a sex line, so much for proofing our work) ***also we have a really nice bed and breakfast giving us a special rate Larch Pine Inn 641-357-7854 only 3 blocks from the YC. Clear Lake is truly a great place for this type of event, and this time of year runs the risk of cool weather so bring the appropriate gear. It can just as easily be 85 degrees too.....
We are located on I-35 smack dab in the middle of Des Moines and Minneapolis near I-80 and I-90.
Hope that answers any questions you had and look forward to the event in only 1 month.
Oh, TAKE NOTE: We have decided to NOT to have teeshirts for this event as posted in the NOR and have gone with another idea for printed material. Its a suprise, so don't ask! At only $100 per head, with food, pop, water and beer for this many people, we need to be very careful how we spend our money, so we went a different way on this. Also, remember to bring your kids if you can. Entry fee for 18 and under is only $30
Thats it :D

Pat, I guess there are more than I thought. Our webmistress is going to add the others later today, but not including you we're at 29. I better get more beer, and order some more donuts!

Okay, just got off the phone with NUMBER 32!! We have 3 women sailors, 2 kids and a bunch of relatively new 14 sailors as well as some of the top performers in recent years. I would like to remind EVERYONE interested to PLEASE PLEASE pre-register. The regatta is relatively cheap and the budget is going to work awesome as long as we know exactly who is going to be here (Pat Bisesi....) 8)
Thanks and see you in 3 weeks.

Okay, we hit 33! Plus I know of 5 more sitting on the fence. Of those, 2 are local, 2 are down south and one is out east.
Anyway, It is usually blowing pretty big here towards the end of Sept, so the chances for a repeat of last years RI wind is possible (hopefully a whole bunch warmer) I remember going to Syracuse a couple years back and it was pretty light...........
Thanks to everyone supporting this race/weekend.

Chris:
If you guys have a design already done I would be happy to pay for a shirt. I bet you could get people to buy at least a couple dozen.
Mark them up a couple of bucks and come out ahead.
We took the chance at the first Nationals we ran and got shirts and hats to sell and they went like hot cakes.

Chris - I want a shirt man! Sell them for extra. How 'bout this for the phrase. "Biggest Damn 14 nationals in a long time!"
We could have ones that say "darn" for the kids!

The back could list the participants. How cool!

You know, we're going to skip the shirts. We have some nice printed material that comes with the regatta registration that I think everyone will like. Remember, in planning this, we based it upon the last decade of attendance, and 8-15 boats has not warranted big regatta ammenities. Since it has grown to be about 3 times what one would have expected we have adjusted accordingly, but alas, still have decided to nix the shirts. What we will have is all the extra Div 7 tee shirts from this and last year for super cheap, plus maybe some of the infamous visors available too. BTW- there are 3 golf courses located 5 min from the regatta site in case you wanna knock 9 before or after the sailing.
