I'll take a WAG at '68-'69.

The 14 production started in July 1968... the H14 Turbo was introduced in 1982.

cheers guys,
i'm just trying to date an h14 I hope to buy. It's a turbo model so I guess that means it can't be any older than 1982. Which begs the question: Is there any way to know if an older h14 has been upgraded to a turbo?

Boy... My WAG was just that. Wild.

Muzzer, are there no serial numbers in the transoms? Last two digits are year.

No numbers unfortunately. I've read the forum re: reg numbers and dating but unfortunately that does not nelp in this case. The seller is sure it's an original Turbo model and he seems honest enough
:? so I'll take a couple of days off work and commit to a road trip to check the boat out more thoroughly I think. Thanks for your help guys.

It would have to have serial numbers on the transoms if built after 1973. Before that they were on the forward pylon posts. Check the sailing fourm FAQ for more description on the serial number.

An original Turbo would have a striker rod like the H16. There were several kits for upgrades that used cables and castings as striker posts.
