Hello everyone,

I enjoy the forum and have always dreamed of owning a pro angler. I have an opportunity to purchase one from a family member, but I am concerned about one thing. My uncle has a 2013 PA14 and he said he would leave it stored on the cart for long periods of time. I told him I didn't think it was a good idea, but he never changed his ways. Now he thinks it's too heavy to lug around and offered it to me. I know the scuppers are re-inforced on those models, but I'm curious if anyone thinks it would do any harm. I was originally saving for a new PA, but I think this would be a good deal. However, I don't want to get into any hull problems down the road.

Thanks.

The scuppers are reinforced...but I would turn over the PA and make sure the cart wheels have not worn/cut into any of the hull....that can be an issue if the clearance between the wheels and hull is insufficient.

^^ This......and if you have a nearby Hobie dealer, run the boat by, and have them inspect the hull/rear scupper area.

Everything mentioned are great suggestions to use. If the top deck does not looked deformed in any way from resting on the cart and the bottom looks good (and you have good wheel clearance)...you should be ok. Lt's comment about running it by a dealer is a great one if you have a dealer within a reasonable distance. Since it's not that old and still under warranty, it would give you some piece of mind.

I can personally vouch for the durability of those re-enforced scuppers, especially the rear ones. That was one of the best things Hobie did for the PA. Thanks for asking the question. A lot of folks here are happy to help. We're just a bunch of Pro Angler addicts! :D

If its just dented underneath from the cart u can flip it over and leave it in the sunshine for a day... Any dents will pop out naturally

All of the above. One further thing I would to is to test for cracks. I use a shop vac set on blow. Find a hose small enough to fit into one of the drain holes and some sort of rubber grommet to fit in the vac hose. Duct or Gorilla tape works to seal any gaps. Spray soapy water all over the scupper area (top and bottom) and your done. Good luck. These are pretty tough boats and I doubt you'll have any leaks.

Leaving on cart mounted through scuppers may not be covered under warranty. Hobie is very clear about the fact you should not store your PA on the cart.
