I'm probably goign to take one last sail for the season, then it's time to prep my snowboard for the winter. :)

I'm sorry guys. I don't mean to rub it in but I get to sail year around, unless it's raining which was the case today. It gets cool enough for a full wetsuit but we can still sail. Know that everyone doesn't but some of us do. The only difference during the fall and winter months is that the weather is cooler and the winds stronger.

Happy Sailing,

David

What's a wetsuit? It gets so cold here during the winter that I have to wear a long sleeve chafe shirt.

The initial shake lasted for about 30 seconds. It was nothing compared to the San Fran shake in '89. We were without power for about three hours.

Latest reports show very little damage on Maui. Our highway is closed due to rock slides over the Pali but that's to be expected. There may be a bridge down on the road to Hana.

The Big Island got hammered pretty good. The Wal-Mart and Safeway in Kona may have had roof collapses and the hospital is heavily damaged. Lots of road damage. Water is in short supply. Cruise lines are being told to not disembark any passengers. Some older houses damaged.

Luckily the govenor was in Kona overnight so our disconnected government on Oahu can't deny the need for emergency assistance.

So far no tsunami warnings. Surf's up brah!!

I'm glad that there were no casualties!!!

My parents have a timeshare out there... I was thinking about using a week of vacation, but maybe I better find another location... the Kona will be messed up for awhile.

Kona is still a mess. The Honolulu airport is still trying to play catch up. Most of the traffic lights on Oahu are still blinking but at least they're on. Maui seems to have dodged a bullet. Mostly just some stuff that fell over and a few small rock slides.

My next door neighbor has a condo about eight miles from the epicenter. The property manager called earlier and said they need to buy a new TV among other stuff. Costco should be doing some bidness soon.

It's raining cats, dogs and medium sized mangos at the moment. At least it's warm rain. One of my kids is doing laps in the pool.

If you're thinkng about going to Kona I'd call to see what the condition of the timeshare is. If it's okay I'd go. A lot of people will delay trips so it'll be pretty quiet.

Did you say, "what's a wetsuit?" Just goes to show ya Hobie1616. No matter how good you think you've got it, somebody's always got it better.

wetsuit? My suit got wet today. Was boating out near the reef when I spotted what looked like some good lobster rocks. dropped the hook and dove over. No lobster at that spot but some good conch nearby. Only about 18 ft. water, just inside the reef.

Suit got wet, for sure. dried out though in about 15 minutes in the sun. Nice thing about nylon.

I did pick up a little sunburn though. Guess I been wearing my t-shirt too much, blocks out the rays.

In respect for wintertime though, I DID put on my leather flip-flops...later on when back on the beach. It IS November, after all.

15 minutes?!?! Man, that's cold. Forecast for the next ten days here is mid 80s.

Oh yeah, Hobie1616. Wellfor your information, it was 91 degrees here today. Unfortunately, I didn't get to sail cause I had to work. I guess it might as well have been 30 degrees, huh? :^ (

Time to get the planks and the board to the shop for a tune-up. Get the boots out of the basement and shake out the spiders. Switch out the rain gear for the snow gear.
I'll be lurking out here occasionally, but I am taking my wise-cracking, irreverant self out of here for a while.
Hopping over to the skiing forum.
See you in the spring!

I'm not going to complain that it's 30 F degrees here right now considering it's mid-November... but you guys are killing me with your forecasts!

I wish I had some money to go along with my extra vacation time... I'd fly somewhere nice and warm and rent a cat for a few days...
