I understand Hobie has requirements regarding prices dealer must charge for new model kayaks.

My question is regarding leftover 2014 stock. I thought I had read somewhere or been told there was pricing flexibility regarding leftover stock and demo units but an employee at a Hobie dealer told me today Hobie would require them to sell 2014 PA's for the same price as a 2015 model, even though the 2015 has several upgrades. In effect, the price of the remaining 2014's would go up because of the 2015 price increase.

Surely this employee is mistaken or I misunderstood. Could someone please elaborate on Hobie's pricing requirements on leftover stock from a previous years' model? This dealer does have a couple of new 2014 PA's I might be interested in, if there is price reduction allowed by Hobie.

Thanks,
Gladdly

I'm pretty much sure this "employee" is mistaken. Best bet would be to ask the dealer yourself.

My dealer offered me $300 in accessories to buy the 2014. I told him make it $400 and he did. Bought a few things and had him take the remaining credit of $250.00 off my balance. Paid cash and walked out loading up my new yak and gear.

I got a similar discount. 10% off kayak and 10-15% off accessories.
