I was just trying to decipher my serial number...

My serial number is CCM-Q-6749-M82-H.

According to the "decoder" in another post, this tells me I have an 82 model year, number 6749, built in H month (March?), but what is Model "Q"?

Also, just forward of the through deck for the rudder pin the number 638 is engraved in the gel coat, and it is only on the port hull.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I've been hunting through posts containing serial number info but not found an answer to my question so please excuse me if it's out there somewhere.

I noticed on http://www.hobiecat.com/support/warrant ... erial.html that boats older than 1973 should have the serial number stamped into the forward plyon post on the outboard side. My old Hobie 16 has the number 1717 stampded into the rear pylon post on the inboard side (starboard side hull). Is that a serial number or something else? If it's a serial number any idea what year it is from.

The boat is in the midst of some repairs at the moment. I had some delamination of the top front decks, some deformation around the rudder gugeon's and general wear and tear. Since I found this site I've also realised that my port forward pylon has slipped down a bit so I'll be adding an access port and doing some work there. Unfortunately I've not been able to seperate the tramp frame in that corner yet (including the use of significant heat).

No idea on a number stamped in the casting. Nothing to do with serial numbers. Perhaps your boat has been painted?... covering the serial numbers on the transom?

As I recall, the Serial number is on both the corner casting and the transom, I just did not notice the one on the transome because it is way up almost all the way under the deck lip.

This one is definitely on the post not the casting. Thanks for the input though. I'll keep looking, I might find more info.

Don't think we ever meant to stamp on the rear pylons, but who knows? Could have happened in error.

MIC (manufacturer ID code) for watercraft will begin with letters, those aren't serial numbers for a boat

I also don't suspect your 18 is an '89 if the Magnum wings are original...more like an '82.

Try again, do a search for serial number location, or read some more FAQ's

Found a new serial # on the hull, CCMC1703D888, based on this does this # tell us it is an 88 or 89 boat?

Last digit is the model year... that is an '88.

Hi, my 16 also has a 4 digit number on the aft pylon posts (outboard on the port hull post and inboard on the starboard hull post) 1670 is the number. Can anyone tell me what year it was built? Dave
