I use one jib sheet, I do not know anyone that uses 2. The stock Hobie lines work great as far as I can tell, but ask 10 people and yep you guessed it 10 answers. You dealer will have an opinion as well, I get all my line from Hobie, I use 1/4 on jib line and 5/16 on main sheet. if you can to go to touch larger the 5/16 jib and 3/8 main. I use a red mainsheet and blue or green jib sheet so I know what's what. jib sheet is 32' and main sheet is 44'

There's no restriction on line size in the rules - you can go as skinny as your hands will tolerate.

Racers use smaller lines (1/4" jib, 5/16" main) because the line runs through the blocks easier.

I go a little shorter on the main - only 37'. Less sheet to wash overboard, and it's still long enough to almost let the boom touch the shroud when it's all the way out.

Thank you for your responses. I'll have to look at my setup again when I am home over the weekend. I would like to switch to just having one sheet. It seems like I have a lot of line on my boat to keep up with, especially if flying a hull or going out solo. I have an old blue vinyl tramp on my boat without the nice pockets that the newer ones have.

I may still be a little confused on how the system operates with one line, being that I've never used it. Is the traveler car still adjustable, or does it come inboard only when the jib is under heavy tension? How crucial is the position of the jib traveler car while sailing?
