I need to know if this rear center padeye can be removed and then replaced without the screw receiving nuts or whatever falling down inside the hull, thus preventing reattachment.

thanks very much,

On my outfitter all the metal padeyes had brass fittings pressed into the hull. So there was nothing to fall down into the hull.

When I bought my first Hobie in 2009, I purchased the "kayak rigging kit", P/N 72020300.
This kit is very handy as it contains 13 different items, one is P/N 8050221, well nut, 10-32 x 1....it has an expandable rubber housing with the 10-32 nut on the end and are listed in "the parts and accessories catalog" for $1.25 each..
The well nut is inserted into the hole and once the 10-32 screw is inserted through the padeye and tightened up, the rubber expands to seal the hole.....and no loss of the nut!
