I would like to thank Bob and Dee for an AWESOME Hobie Adventure while on Maui .. Bob went above and beyond taking me out and even letting me have a try on the maiden voyage of his AI2

His wife Dee was a most generous host showing my wife Kathy and Mother-in-law RuthAnn around while I quite frankly had the time of my life .. a dream come true .. a chance to sail the beautiful waters of Maui

Bob's AI2 easily outclassed his older AI with me at the helm .. it was at least 2 kts faster when the wind was blowing.

Lots more pics and video to come but I'm technically challenged on board this cruise ship so this will have to do until I get home.

Bob - from the bottom of my heart .. THANK YOU !

We did have fun!

I finally met someone that spends more time behind the camera while sailing than me! :)

And here I am chasing down my own brand new 2015 AI, trying to catch up: Come back!

I kept telling him, NO, you can't sail back to Long Island from here! :)

Great time was had by all. Nice people! Nice time.

Nice post of appreciation Alan. It would be great to catch up with both you long term AI-ers at some stage. Don't forget, the door is always open down this way if you ever get the chance.

Same here and although I have sold my TI, I know I would be able to rustle up at least one extra AI.

A few whale sightings around the pool on board the ship .. and yes even some whilst out on the Hobie's too ;)

.. won't know if I got any of them on kodachrome until I get home and can view them on something bigger than a 3" camera monitor though

Sailing out of Kauai right now going back to Honolulu for the flight home tomorrow .. the only part of vacation I hate iS the trip back to reality

We should have a forum topic for those traveling and looking to hook a sail while away .. anyone going to NYC or Long Island is always welcome to go out with me .. and even if it's not sailing weather please feel welcome to contact me as i work in Manhatten and besides playing tour guide or offering advice, I can often score something kewl through work being in the advertising / entertainment sector (even though I'm just a computer nerd)

I think I can think of a way to create a "Hobie Host group" without having to reinvent the wheel.
I won't elaborate too much right now - suffice to say, I belong to an international friendship organisation that has existed since 1948 and has members all around the world In at least 50 countries. My wife & I have stayed with several hosts in Netherlands, Belgium, France, Hungary, UK. We have also hosted folk from Italy, France, Germany, Canada, USA. You can join as a Traveller or a Host - or both. The organisation is called SERVAS and you will find out more if you google.
I wish I had known about it when I was much younger. We have had some very memorable experiences and benefited from staying with ordinary people in their homes, experiencing their local cuisine, customs and benefiting from their local knowledge.
