Matt,

Would you guys ever consider 2 calenders? Cats and Kayaks are like oil and water. It's like trying sell a Nascar calender with half the months being Indy cars. It might be a dice roll, but I bet you would sell more than twice as many calenders and promote each audience more effectively.

And we thank Hobie Cat for the perk,

However I do understand the consternation. I dreaded the evil months where I had to look at some dude wearing shades (Got a few comments from work about that too), and really looked forward to the cat pictures.

I doubt you would sell all of them, and I have NO idea what the numbers would be to bulk produce them.

How about, getting a notice out to the divisions, asking them to send pictures from regatta's or such, and within 6 months of the upcoming calendar year, send out a notice for early renewal of Hobie Class membership (Those that sign up, get the sailing calendar as a perk), that will give you a firm order # to send to the printer.

Regatta dates would be a cool addition, but then you would have to localize it.

Just some thoughts..

Look at it this way maybe... This year we have 5 sailing months.

But we think about sailing ALL 12 months. And we pay dues for ALL 12 months too! :P I want to see fiberglass all year! Keeps me focused.

We distribute these calendars to Sailing, Kayak dealers as well as the Hobie design group (Clothes, Surfboards, Shoes, Sunglasses... etc.). We have a broad base to please.

When you try to design things that do everything, they end up doing nothing well. Maybe it's time to make several versions targeted to specific markets? :?: Just a thought.

YEA, What OLD SCHOOL SAID!!!!!!!!

Definitions of sot on the Web:

drunkard: a chronic drinker

We might know a few sailors that fit that definition.

Actually a "sot" is a "Sit-on-top" kayak! :)

How would one go about getting one of these calenders if the closest Hobie dealer was... 4 hours away.

This is a little off topic but I'm gonna ask anyway. What all do you get for joining the hobie class association? I know it is necessary to participate in Hobie sanctioned events but is that all? I'm pretty new to the sport but after a season of sailing I definately want to become more involved. I've contacted my Hobie Fleet, NC fleet 100, but it's hard to tell just how active they are. Could someone maybe advice me as to how I could become more involved? Winter will soon be over, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
Thanks in advance,
James

For one thing, you get the Hobie Hotline magazine delivered to the door, and that has all the information on everything that is going on everywhere, plus helpful articles on sailing setup and repair as well as rules etc......

Hey Gree. I wanted to answer your question directly, as this topic seems confusing. This goes for parts too. Here are the steps to getting products from your nearest Hobie dealer ("4hours away").

1) You call them up and ask for the item you want. Part numbers are helpful, but not always nec. (Assuming you already know who they are. If not go to the dealer locator on this site.)

2) They say, "no problem, that will be $?".

3) You give them a CC # or sometimes they will accept a mailed check. But, the vast majority of people use a CC.

4) There are several methods to get the stuff to you. There's a neat thing called the USPS, then there's FedEx and UPS. These are the most common ways. You would probably get your calender the next day for around $5.

Hope that helps gree. And check it out, your local dealer may even stock parts for your Nacra.

gree,

The folks in Wichita are in fact a Performance dealer as well as Hobie Cat.

If you don't sell that 14T you should bring it to the Daggerless regatta at Hefner in April.

And why don't you make some money on that 5.2 and buy a 16?

Also the Norman Hobie Fleet 63 is dormant right now and needs an enthusiastic commodore (like YOU, hint, hint). You have the whole Division 14 to help you out!!

No (censored), get with the program man. Tear that jib off that 14 too. And get rid of the 5.2. We'll see you at the daggerless John. My plan is to beat Mork. And you of course.
