I have several questions please. I want a kayak that I can
1. stand and fly fish from
2. will handle the surf if I want to sail at the beach
3. probably a tandem so my wife can join me, but I can remove a seat and have more room
4. can put the AMA kit on for more stability
5. can possibly add the the two floats( i don't know what you call them) that are on the sides of the Adventure Island.

Would the omni or outfitter or revoltion accompolish this

Thanks,
Roy

Wow! I really thought a Hobie rep on here would give me some insight to my question.
I didn't think the question was irrational. Oh well.

Fly Fishing from a kayak, particularly from a Hobie is best done from a sitting position. The instant you stand up, in any kayak, you lose the ability to motivate and/or steer.

With a Hobie Mirage Drive Kayak, however, you can cast with one hand while steering with the other, all the while using the Mirage Drive to motivate.

I tried the standing up thing for about an hour and then quickly discovered tha the stealthy, most effective fly fishing presentation was made from the seat, while manipulating the kayak at the same time. In fact, this works so terribly well that I wouldn't bother trying to fly fish from any other brand of kayak, and I own more than a few.

Hello,
Try the standnfish. I have this system designed for flats fishing but works well in western lakes. Made in Sarasota, Florida. I use mine with evolve system mounted on rudder and control direction with my foot with motor control mounted on standing platform. Don't give up . IMHO sight fishing is the most enjoyable form of fly fishing.

Non flyfishing : Tandem Island

Fly fishing : Pro Angler 17 and buy a bow mount Salt Water foot controlled Minn Kota trolling motor.

I would think the PA17. I have not tested one but I can stand and fly cast from my PA14 just fine and the PA17 is a larger more stable platform made for two.
