I thought I read somewhere that Hobie is scheduled to release information on their 2016 Hobie kayaks. I've heard there will probably be minimal changes to the PA since last year was a major redesign year. Has any information been released on the 2016 PAs and what will be new?

Perfect!!! I will be picking up a 2015 PA14 from my local dealer this weekend. I just wanted to make sure nothing major was changing with the 2016 model.

From what I heard from my dealer the 2016 will come with a longer paddle and the eye hooks located in back of the seat are larger. The plate for a transducer will take other than lowrance. Thats all I heard.

There's 1 paddle length, the PA's all come with a T handle so that you can just use half. There are new shaped pad eyes in the cargo area - this is to help attach more than 1 hook to each eye - and they can be swapped out with any older kayak, so it's not something we even mention, but yes - there is a new shaped padeye - but again, they cost a couple bucks and you can install anywhere your older kayak has the original shape fittings. The Plate for the Lowrance has not changed. You have always been able to adapt a Humminbird to it sing an adapter which is offered through the catalog.

I called Austin Kayak a little while ago and they mentioned that the 2016 model includes larger turbo fins, stern pad eyes are larger, larger skeg and a modified rudder. Does Hobie have a document they can share that list all of the changes for 2016?

The 2015 had the skeg too - not sure who you spoke to at Austin. Modified rudder? Huh/ Turbo fins have always come with the PA's....

He mentioned referencing an email from Hobie that described the changes. I called 888-828-3828. It basically sounded like everything the 2015 had, but just bigger turbo fins, larger skeg than what is included now, etc..... Honestly, whether or not these are correct, they aren't big enough changes to make me want to wait for a 2016 model to be in stock and pay a higher price. I am sticking with the 2015 model (aka 2016 Model) :D

Again - there is no larger fins or skeg - that's not correct. The only changes are related to the newly shaped padeye in the cargo area (again this is not a big deal, it was a running change and many boats are now receiving this item) and there's also a 3 way plug fitting which replaces the original through hull fitting for Lowrance - but again, this was already done so maybe boats have this already too - and it's backwards compatible so you can add that to any kayak too, it's an accessory in the catalog that's upcoming going to print this week.

You would contact a dealer for pricing.

I found a 2015 Pro Angler 14 in my local store and they were willing to part with it to make room for the 2016s. The price was good enough to so I could afford a couple of upgrades. The sales staff said that they would start receiving their 2016 pro anglers in November. They confirmed that the only minor changes to the 2016 PA14 would be as follows:
· The paddles that comes with the PA will now be longer at 260cm.
· Recessed tracking keel to minimize contact with the skeg when loading and unloading
· Lowrance-Ready Thru Hull Wire Plugs will now have a 3-way connector
· Padeye XL is a new padeye that will allow for multiple connections for accessories such as the Livewell and the H-Crate.

I am now going to travel to another state to have an on the water demo. They have a couple of 2015s in stock and might be bring one home with me. With my old knees, I am hoping I don't need a crane to stand and sit down. (My Jon Boat is getting hard to horse in and out of the water).

I was thinking about the Lowrance 4X-Chrip, the Livewell, a couple rod holders and a coupe of clamp on tackle boxes. I already have the safety equipment, rods, tackle and etc.

Are there any other must-haves? While I have the wife in agreement to lay down the cash, I would like to get all I need to jump start fall fishing.
