New Hobie SUP / Mirage Fishing Kayak???

Leave it to Hobie to take the SUP game to the next level. We've seen inflatable SUPs. We've seen motorized SUPs. But we've never seen an inflatable, motorized SUP like Hobie's i11s. This board does more than any other. The i11s is the flagship in a complete redesign of the Hobie inflatable line. With new colors and beefier construction, Hobie has created a range of boats and boards that are serious craft for serious fun.

The i11s takes either a Mirage Drive or Evolve electric motor. The rudder controls can be switched from left or right. They've added patches to all tie-downs and attachment points for extra toughness. The new line accepts Hobie's leading Vantage seating system that can be adjusted for comfort and fit. Zooming around on the i11s, we felt confident and exhilerated.

The board moves at a comfortable speed with solid stability to stand and motor or paddle. The Evolve motor drive is easy to install and hard to beat. The compact unit fits perfectly in the Mirage Drive well and runs without cavitation or excessive noise. Add a Hobie H-Crate and the system is ready to fish.

Looks like a mix between a mirage kayak and a SUP. I don't see the point. Having a vantage seat on a SUP defeats the purpose of the SUP and you might as well just buy an inflatable kayak.

It's not a SUP.

It is a minimalist inflatable kayak platform. Lighter weight... lower windage. Great for travel or RV/Boat storage... Just an extension of the i-Series kayak line. It is a Mirage driven product. The evolve motor happens to fit it because it is the same drive well.

I think this will become very popular especially those fishing rivers and lakes.

I'd love one to compliment my 2015 Outback.

At 16kg (sorry, I'm Australian) and a 1m beam it's pretty darn stable I'd say.... Kudos Hobie!

I beg to differ. You will notice fishing SUP's have an ice box or something to sit on. I know I personally would rather sit on a vantage CT seat and have proper back and lumbar support.

I have no affiliation with Hobie but this is truly a revolutionary product in my eyes

I have the same feelings.

My concern is how it will handle waves head on and on the sides.

All of our inflatable Mirage kayaks have had drop-stitch rigid floors. Basically, all we did is remove the large side tubes. We didn't take a SUP and add the well and seat... This makes a lighter weight, smaller kayak that is easier to transport. A bunch of guys fish the ocean on surfboards and SUPs as platforms, so waves are not a huge issue for them. It would certainly be best in flatter waters. It is certainly not everybody's platform, but... lighter and simple yet more comfortable. It works!
