Hello,

I'm new to the Hobie kayak Forum and would like your advice. I bought a 2016 Hobie Revolution last week, and the dealer installed the crossbar. It's off in alignment. I did not notice it until I tried it out on the water. I then went home and watched the Hobie Tech video on how to install it. Before they installed the bar, I did ask them to make sure that the cart would fit. I am going to take it to the dealer to have them fix it, as they also need to rotate the bar, so the holes will adjust to three settings.

I am disappointed. Am I stuck with a brand new kayak with holes in it?

Thank you for your help.

Off alignment fore / aft? One side is forward of the other? If side to side... that would be normal on some boats. The bar has to be slipped to one side to make the adjustment holes not be in the clamps.

That is a discussion you would have to have with your dealer. Holes are easily welded closed... never see them if that has to be done.

Thank you for responding.

I tried to attach a photo, but couldn't figure it out.

I'm really surprised at the lack of experience in the Hobie dealer. I'm frustrated after spending almost $2,600.

Thank you. I couldn't get my picture to upload to the photo hosting site.

These are stores that sell Hobie products (and a lot of other stuff), not owned or managed by Hobie Cat. We do our best to help train and inform them about our products, but they are independent operators. While most any dealer is better at technical support than what you would find at a department store selling kayaks... there is still a lot to know. Many dealers have college or high school age help in the summers and staff that changes seasonally. They still are responsible for that labor and providing you with good service, so if not satisfied after dealing with them... we can inform their regional rep. They may be able to help or help the dealer with the issue.

Hello,

I had been working with the assistant manager. The manager corrected the problem.
