Even tho i'd probably need to take out a 2nd mortgage on my house to buy a group of sailors beer, it would b worth it for all of the help everyone has been. Btw, i'm located in fort wayne, indiana. A real sailing paradise. k, that was a joke.

Thanks again.
Cory

Cory,

That is where I taught myself to sail! I was living in Columbia City at the time. I the "lake" I sailed on was Sylvan Lake right by Rome City. It was barely big enough for an H16. Then, when I went back to school I sailed on Lake Shaffer. Yep, Indiana Beach... there really isn't much more than corn in Indiana.

If you have the time one weekend you can go to Grand Lake in St. Mary's State park in OH. There are power boaters there, but it is one of the bigger "lakes" in the area.

Also, keep a lookout for people who know about the Hobiecats when you are at boat ramps. I learned quite a bit about my boat from "that guy".

If you can find a good lake wait for the spring and take advantage of the strong steady winds.

Cool, I can't believe that you learned to sail here in corn country  I've done a bit of sailing on the hurshtown reservior which is TINY but gets really clean wind. Never been to sylvan lake or grand lake but would b willing to give em a try. I've got lots of cold weather gear so i'm probably not going to wait till the spring to give em a try :D
thanks again for the advise.
Cory

Where there's a will there's a way...

I wouldn't make a trip to Sylvan unless you just want to go for an afternoon. Not a very big lake. But, not too many power boats or PWC.

Some guys are lacing with 3mm covered vectran to save weight, and increase stiffness. It's like a cheese grater on the knees, but it's kind of neat. Just another option.

Anyone who needs to save the weight from lacing line should just make sure they hit the toilet before they go out racing - would probably save the same amount of weight :P
