on the maiden voyage today I got to looking at the amas and the seem to have a flatter side and a more rounded side. I assumed the flatter side went against the hull then I realized that I had two "right" amas. then I started questioning, I have never heard anything about left vs right amas so I started doubting that I saw a difference, then my wife mentioned that she saw a difference as well. are amas specific to one side or the other?

There is no left or right. Both are the same and can be on either side. Otherwise there would be markings on the amas indicating that. Notice the hobie sticker on both sides of each ama.

Very interesting, hawk232... Does the boat sail better or worse on one tack versus the other? I've never heard of a "left" or "right" ama either, but I have noticed when picking mine up by the carry handle, one is heavier in the front and the other is heavier in the rear. So I'm guessing the ama production process isn't the most precise.

I didn't think there was a left or right either. Then again I've never removed my amas. They were put on by the dealer and have stayed that way. I should probably try my TI stripped down sometime :D .

Correct... they are not left/right.

They "could" be asymetrical (bowed) from heat, storage etc.

after I looked last night and noticed that one now seems symmetrical, I assumed that might be the case. thanks for confirming.
