The states are pretty aggressive about enforcing safe boating laws, as is the Coast Guard.

I'm sorry this is happening to you, but it sounds more like you want to vent here than do anything about the problem.

There are a million reasons to do nothing, there's one reason to take action: they are endangering your life. Like trying to run you down with an automobile, it's a vehicular assault.

Get a video or get a still picture. Get the CF number of the hull. Call the cops. Or just put up with it.

OK, pal. Thanks for the advice, but the fishing season has been over for a couple months now.

If you genuinely fear for your safety, a .357 into his motor would be justified. And then immediately call 911.

I have had a similar issue here in Utah with power boats while I have been in my float tube. I have found that a picture of the bow numbers and a report to the proper LEO has worked well. Especially if they are getting close enough to bump you get that on camera and then take all the info to the local LEO.

Sarasota FL I think used to be called the superboat capital. Every year they have superboat races here on July 4th. During practice the day before The big race (yes I was out by their race course just bumming around). The miss Geico superboat zoomed past me from behind at what looked like 100 mph plus ( seemed to me anyway). I wet myself just a little.
Now my wife forbids me from going out on that weekend (lol).

Here is the video I took that same day (the miss Geico sneaking up on me (wetting myself) isn't in this video). At around 1:40 in the video I thought the Porta Products boat wanted to race me. If you look at his Merc motors they say 2.5 on the side, well I have twin 2.3 Honda's so we are evenly matched, (classic Honda vs Merc ( lol)). I held my ground for a while (thru the no wake zone anyway (lol)), then he zoomed away.

I don't think 2.5 on the side of his motors means 2.5 hp ( lol), I was doing 10-12mph thru a lot of the video, and all of them passed me like I was standing still.

My Honda's don't sound anything like this Merc 2.5 (280 hp) just sayin.....
