Question about transporting my new PA14 with pictures.

I have a long bed pickup with a toolbox in the bed. Today I got my toolbox back in (took it out when I went to go pick the kayak up, just to be on the safe side) and threw the yak in there just to see what it looked like. I was contemplating the need for a bed extender but now I'm not so sure.

I had a little less than 5' of overhang. The way I had it strapped in was very solid, I could not move it in any direction. The dealer I bought it from advised me to caution when using ratchet straps, so in these pics the straps are tight but not to the point where hull deformation is a possibility.

I've including pics to show you all how I had the straps running, basically just to see if it was safe for the boat. I don't want to tear anything up.

You should be fine with that setup. Those are heavy duty ratchets. As long as you don't over tighten them, you should not have any issues. I have a short bed pickup, so when I carry one PA in the bed away from my lake in the subdivision I use a bed extender. But looking at the side view, you have plenty of support by the tailgate. Glad to see someone loading it in bow first. I see so many folks loading it in the bed stern first. That defeats the purpose of the scuff pads below the drain plugs at the stern. Congrats on the new PA and welcome to the PA family and the addiction!
