pa12 or 14?

Going to order a pro angler in a month or so / not quite sure if I should go with 12 or 14. Would be transporting in a truck 6' bed and fishing ICW mangroves etc. would appreciate any suggestions and other ideas... thanks Palm Coast, Fl.,

Go PA14. Well worth the small difference in price. More storage and space in general. Since you're hauling it in a truck bed, it won't be that difficult to load even though it's a little heavier and (obviously) longer than the PA12.

I would not worry about the truck. With a truck bed extender/kayak carrier, two feet will probably not make that much difference. But it is amazing how much difference 2 feet can make on the water. Judge what you need by where you are going to fish. There were times when i fished tight waters, creeks, etc, that i wished my Kayak were 10 feet. There are other times when going thru rollers on open water that i wished it was a 17t. If you are fishing tight areas that require a lot of agility, a 12' kayak can make the difference. My typical fishing makes the 14' a perfect compromise - for me. There is more room, 2 extra rod holders - which i love, because I typically carry 5 and this lets me keep them safely in the boat when not in use and transporting. But when I get into narrow or tight quarters, i sometimes long for a shorter boat.

How was that for absolutely no help?

I would echo much of the same comments above......I went from an Outback, 12' long, to a PA-14 and have never looked back!
The small difference in MSRP between the PA-12 and PA-14 makes it a "no brainer" to pick the PA-14.

I'm on my third PA12 and also have a 2015 Outback.
I could have gotten the PA14 any of those three times but have found (for me) that it's length makes transportation and storage a bit easier. I started with a pick-up & bed extender but now use a trailer behind my Ford hatchback.
I fish with others that have the PA14 and have no problems pacing them when running from point-A to point-B.
I fish the Indian River on the Treasure Coast 90% of the time but also hit fresh & saltwater from the Keys to Virginia.
I will say that the PA14 will track better than the 12 footer (but the new skeg has really helped with tracking on the 2016 PA12), the PA14 has a bit more storage front and back plus horizontal storage for two more rods.

To be honest, if I had to chose just one boat for my type of fishing and the areas I fish, I would take the new Outback, hands down......but that's me.

You don't really gain 2 feet. Its actually 1' 8". The rear or the boats are identical sizes however you do gain a larger front hatch and a little more leg room. Plus the 2 extra horizontal rod holders. All worth it to me. Go with the 14.
