Wondering if any of the Forum Members were going to be going to the Hobie Bass Open on June 4-5th at Kentucky Lake? I have only fished a single tournament in my life and not close to the talent that will be on the water, but I do love Kentucky Lake and want to take in some Hobie Mojo and thought I would spectate, take some pictures, do some fishing, and maybe check out how others have rigged their kayaks for fishing. Plus, I was hoping to demo an Outback.

If anyone is going, and wants to meet a fellow enthusiast in person, let me know!

STL,

Good luck fishing it! If I were closer and had the time, it would be neat to fish that. I agree with the Hobie mojo.

Headed to Pine Island Sound, FL the 18th-26 of June to fish with my son and 7 other good friends from across the country. It's a bucket list trip for us. We have an awesome house rented right on a canal in St. James City (south end of Pine Island). We will be fishing for tarpon, snook, reds, trout, drum and whatever else we can catch. 1 Outback and 8 Pro Anglers in the group. Everyone in the group is either retired, active or reserve military.

Cannot wait to fish that "gin clear" water and hopefully go on a few sleigh rides behind a good sized fish!

Steve

I'm signed up and plan to be there.
Look me up, You can demo my Outback. I'm hoping there is a i11S available to look at. The weather wasn't great last year, so don't know how much demo'ing went on, but there were boats there.

Steve - I am from the North(ish), I thought Kentucky and Georgia were practically the same state. Sorry you cannot make it, but your trip sounds amazing and I would be interested in hearing how far a big Tarpon could pull you.

Lt.kenson... Sent you a note, and thanks.

I will be there. There are a number of us coming down from the north...Canada, Michigan and Ohio.

Just look for Mighty Mouse.

MMouse... You might be hard to miss, not sure I will recognize your boat. But will definitely look you up!

Leaving for Kentucky Lake, and the Hobie Bass Open, in a few minutes. Good luck to all fishing, and looking forward to meeting many kayak fishing addicts this weekend.

My motto for this tournament... Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Well this years Hobie Bass Open is history, had a great time and I highly recommend attending this event. Hobie is first class, thanks for everything. Great to meet new people sharing a great sport and enjoying great products. Now, I want a i11s, Adventure Island, etc.

Sorry I did not get to say goodbye, and thanks for introducing me to some good people. I had a great time. Would have been better if the fish would have cooperated more on Sunday! Guess I need to find a sauger/carp tournament to enter. (And I still say those are Walleye). Definitely going to come back next year, but definitely will fish that lake differently. My skill is NOT fishing ledges... That is pretty apparent from my lack of numbers. I LOVE pounding the banks and shallows. I don't fish to win tournaments, I fish because I love to fish, I love to kayak, and I love being on the water with like minded people.

Oh, and pretty sure the Hobie film crew got the perfect shot of me standing and relieving myself. Of course they would have need an extremely powerful zoom to see anything!

Yeah, looked for you and others, but you had already left. Sorry, we couldn't let you try my outback maybe next time. I did pretty good on the ledges, but there were no 20 inchers on mine spot this weekend couldn't get past 17.5. Learned that I need one of those battery thingies for my phone as my phone went dead and ended my day a little early. I wasted 20 pics on a feisty 13.5 fish I eventually upgraded, but it was that very important 3rd fish. I'm always more relaxed after that 3rd fish. I avoided the camera guy pretty well this year, and they didn't find me on the water this year.

I had the same issue with keeping my iPhone charged when roaming around that lake. It just ate the battery. I have one of those backup cell chargers...they only work if you charge them...guess i didn't. I am in the process of doing the interior lights and adding a cig lighter adapter right behind the seat. I will use it to hook up my 12v charger, as well as a USB cig adapter to charge phone and camera on the water.

I replaced the tackle storage with the bin and wired the plug in there. That way it stays protected and charging in the hatch when not in use.

MM, that is a good idea. I thought about doing the same, and just might. Kind of like not drilling a new hole behind my seat. I rarely remove the bucket i have. Don't think i got to actually meet you at KYL. Pretty sure we ran into each other, but never got a chance to talk. How did you end up doing?

Your Canadian table seemed to have a good tournament. I was hoping for a door prize! All I ended up with was a floaty and a sun burn.

I'm sure we crossed paths. I think I ended up in the 40's. I started off with a 19" early Sunday, but I couldn't manage to land another one.

I picked up a little more ledge fishing knowledge this year and hope to apply it next year.

I ended up with $100 RAM mount coupon.
