When buying a brand new H16 what should a person expect the dealer to do as far as setup/prep? should it be fully assembled and they run the sails up to check them, set the tension on the rudders for flip up? ect? or should I expect to do alot myself?

I think the answer to this question is going to be it depends. I found a well used H-16 and bought it a few years ago. My local Hobie dealership had an employee who knew sailboats. He wasn't a cat sailor, but knew the boats pretty well. He'd been out to California several times to meet the Hobie team and learn about the boats. He was an incredible resource. He retired.

Since then, the dealership hasn't had a sailor in its employ. It's a boatyard that primarily deals with powerboats. Where the sailboats are sold is also where the kayaks and paddle boards are also sold, and that's the big emphasis. I don't think there's anyone there that knows about rudder tension, for example.
