Hey pibindy,
Two big differences right off. The Oasis is nearly two feet longer so it has more room for gear, both on deck and in the hold. OTOH, the Outfitter is much better designed for fishing. The Outfitter is basically an Outback built for two with the great OB gunwale tackle and gear trays, along with the four built-in rodholders similar to the OB. However, the Oasis has neither the built-in rodholders nor the gunwale gear trays. However, the Oasis can handle larger folks since it has a 550 pound weight capacity, whereas the Outfitter has a capacity of 450 lbs.

Basically, there is very little difference that I can see between the two boats, so I am a bit surprised that Hobie saw fit to manufacture two boats this similar in overall characteristics. However, as a fisherman I tend to prefer the Outfitter myself (I should mention that I have neither boat, but I have driven the Outfitter). Hope this helps a bit.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, welcome to the Hobie Forum, and GO COLTS!
Best,
Dick

Thanks for the welcome and the information. I could not see a lot of difference and thought that maybe I was missing something on stability...

And how about those Colts!! They finally got it done.

Does Apalach have anything to do with Apalachicola? We go down there every April and is one of the locations we are looking forward to using the kayak.

Thanks agin for the information

Marty

Your not the first to ask me that, but no, it comes from my main fishing area Apalachee Bay due south of Tallahassee, and named after the area's early human inhabitants, the Apalachee (or Apalache Indians). Best of luck with your new boat(s) whatever they may be.

P.S. That sure was an interesting game last night, and we were thrilled for Tony and Peyton and all the guys. My wife and I have been fans of Peyton (and the Colts) since Peyton played at Tennessee, although our son signed with the Saints out of college (another of our fav teams!).
