I thought all GT drives were the same...cheers, roger

Thanks for checking; the differences must be minor, but when I click above on Hobie parts and acc catalog the drives have 3 different part numbers:
Quote:
80010501 MIRAGE DRIVE GT - ST FINS
80013501 MIRAGE DRIVE GTi - ST FINS iSeries
80012501 MIRAGE DRIVE GTT - ST TURBO FINS

I noticed the extra part number for a GTi drive after your post. I don't have a GT to compare with my GT drive, visually and functionally my GT and V2 seem interchangeable between my Oasis and i11s...roger

The reverse action would be really handy when fishing. But, can you sail with this new MirageDrive 180 kayak? I currently have a Revo, and I just love having the options to fish, sail, paddle, or pedal my kayak. But, regardless ---It would be GREAT if the new 180 Mirage drive pedals can be fitted into my old 2009 Revo hull.

MD 180 kayaks will be equipped with the mast port, just as in past model years... When it becomes available as a standalone part, the MD 180 will fit your 2009 Revolution 13. It fits older hulls easily in models with the alignment pin slots. Older models than that will require removal of the pins from the spine, and for even older models you'll have to file off some of the spine fairing.

I have had no issues using these drives in either of my boats (I removed the black plastic alignment pin from the V2 to use it with the i11s, that's it)...I thought all GT drives were the same

Apparently the inflato drive only differs by missing the training wheels, er, I mean insertion guide pins. There is a picture and explanation of it here viewtopic.php?f=60&t=46677

The drive is a little different for the iseries. Cut off the alignment pins. The iseries and older Mirage kayaks do not have the alignment pin slots.

Rats, I was hoping to order a 2016 i11s and sell the backdrive for a fortune. Now my market is limited to the almost no locals who use inflatos. Apparently rotomold hulls or drives can be damaged if inserting drives tipped forward without those alignment pins. Easy to tip forward with pedals in short leg position. I wonder if new pins can be bolted on?

it looks to me that if someone felt the need to have the alignment pins, swapping in 81181001 SPINE to a GTi drive for $24.99 converts it to a normal GT drive with alignment pins...roger

Is there an ETA when the new 2017 Hobies with reverse will be available in Australia?

Check with your dealers there. We started shipping here in late September... then container transit times... shipping to dealers...

Just picked up my new 2017 Revo13 today. When will dealers be receiving turbo fins for the new 180 drives?

MD180 Turbo upgrades will not be available until the factory has a full supply for boat production needs. Probably a few more months at least.

Matt - what is the timeline - or has one even been set - for the sale of the MD-180's sans kayak? I am dying for reverse on these grass filled Souther Illinois lakes!

Not yet determined, but likely the next catalog or next summer here in NA.
