I just took apart a frame that was sloppy. The holes in the extruded aluminum were egged out bad. Larger rivets wouldn't help at all, as the holes were about 3/8" wide. You may want to take off the corner castings to see what you have and add epoxy to the joint. You may want to add some fresh holes for rivets, so you're in a fresh area of the extruded portion. The cast portion holds up a lot better than the extruded part, so you can't tell how bad the holes are without removing the castings.
