Anyone know the biggest Yeti that will fit perpendicular in the back of a PA14? 35, 45, or 50? And to save us all time I'm not interested in your opinions of other cooler suggestions just what will fit size wise. Thanks in advance.

If you really mean perpendicular then you can fit up to a Tundra 65 in the tank well. The tank well is approximately 31" x 22", give or take a half inch. The nice thing about the Yeti (even though I think there are better options :D ) is that you can find them at about EVERY big box Sporting store. Most places like Cabela's, Gander MNT and Bass Pro would not think twice about letting you take one out front to see how it fits in your Kayak.

Here is the link to the Yeti Cooler Dimensions page.

http://yeti.com/size-and-capacity/

I tried an Orion 45 in the back of mine (horizontally), and though it is an amazing cooler, it just did not fit right for my taste...sat up way to high...and the color clashed bad with the Olive of my PA.

It says ur Orion 45 is 27"x17.5". If thats true then a Yeti 45 should fit as its 24.5"x13.5" at the bottom. I really don't want the 50 because of the height and weight. but Yeti 45 is good and lighter than the Orion. How much extra room did u have with the Orion back there?

The cut out in the tank well behind the seat (between the rod holders) was open and a little over a foot behind the cooler.

Thanks for the info STL. After some thinking, I might go with the RTIC 45. The base is 25 1/4 x 13 3/4 so it should fit

Alright just an update for everyone following. I ended up ordering a RTIC 45. Its half the price of the yeti and holds more volume. However if ur in a rush to get this item u might consider yeti or orca or something else. I'm in no hurry but I ordered yesterday(8-31-16) and its not expected to ship until 10-22-16. Like I said, I'm in no rush, but I wasn't expecting this kind of wait time after payment. Just giving a heads up to everyone. I paid $179, free shipping, no sales tax. I'll update again to let u know how it fits and does in the 'real world'.

I just ordered the RTIC SoftPak 30 and a 30oz tumbler. If they are as good as the reviews I have read, I will be pretty happy. I don't need 5 day ice, I would be happy with all day ice! If I can get two days, even better. I also have a tricked out Black Coleman Steel Belted cooler (55qt) that fits perfectly behind the seat, and I have rigged with gear tracks, hog trough mounts from YakAttack, and a 9" H-Rail so it can hold my tackle bin. And for the rare days I might fish for Gil's or whites, I have another white 65qt fish cooler. Decided to keep the keeper fish on ice versus making a Livewell or adding a bubbler. Thinking I have all the bases covered now.

i just use rubbermaid blue ice packs (4) in my 20, works for 2+ days in FL. usually leave inside a black truck for the second day. i almost like the wallyworld ozark trail cups better than the rtic cups, seems to be heavier gauge SS like the yeti's

Was that Water Boy? I do feel like the Adam Sandler of Kayak Fishing on occasion.

I am always happy to take pictures of my kayak and associated stuff. As soon as (if) my iPhone dries out, I will post some pictures of the cooler. I dropped it, sans case, in the Mirage Drive scupper taking pictures while fishing with my dad. Its a slippery little (censored) when you don't have a case on it. Glad the new iPhone is going to be water resistant.

(No, I don't want to start a conversation on Android vs Apple. Or the Samsung being waterproof. I am already invested in the Apple Ecosystem from Laptop to TV to iPad to watch to stock to everything. And like it!)

My RTIC shipped and will be delivered on Monday. Should make a nice addition to my other two kayak coolers.
