Here's my workaround for that: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipP ... JaRW5TYzBR

When sailing, I clip it to the paddle stash on the port side.... nice to have a walking stick and/or emergency spar, or I'd just leave it on the beach.

That's a nice easy solution. Thanks for that!

Having used the boat, I'd beg to differ on the amount of play seen at the ama, it adds up to more than fractions. The aka bars droop enough when portaging the boat that they drag on the ground. I have to tie them up when wheeling the boat, and even then they rub the tires. As you say, doesn't change the function of the boat on the water, it seems to sail fine, if a bit tilted when under sail.

Yes, when folded... I am talking about sailing configuration. When folded in... that is an entirely different thing. Yes, they droop. This is expected and is normal.

you should use a dolly with a cradle - not a plug in cart - the Islands work best on the proper dolly. The ama droop is not related to the pin play, but rather the aka joint where it slides into the x bars - there is rotation under load when folded - this is the same for all current AI's and TI's.

I wish Hobie had told me that before I dropped $250 or so on the plug-in cart....

Seems like another benefit of a cradle dolly on an AI would be the balance point: with the plug-in, the bow of an AI is about a 50# lift.

Placed a foot or so fore of the scupper holes, the cradle cart would give a more balanced situation.

I'm with you on this one Pete, I assumed the $250 plug-in beach cart (the one with the 30cm wheels) would be adequate. But your pole fix seems easy enough that I'll simply be doing that from now on to prevent the akas from dragging.

My akas touch the ground and rub the wheels, even with the provided bungee.

maybe the bungee needs tightening or replacing, but the beach cart is best, i even use that instead of my trailer on launch ramps

You store it on the boat/trailer during transport, right?

That trailer/dolly combo look great. Weta has a similar trailer/dolly for their much larger boat.
