Drysuit recommendations

Just started kayak fishing this spring. Love it. But what do some of you guys like to wear in the cool/ colder months? I only have waders at the present time and I know some guys do it but I don't want to go that route. Thanks in advance.

It has reinforced knees and elbows, a relief zipper, booties and neoprene collar (rather than latex). Works great in the northern CA in both cold and warm weather since it is goretex. Just need to layer for the conditions. I love mine.

Looking for something as well, but maybe less than $500....I feel the same about waders, I'll keep hem for the surf fishing.

I think immersion wear serves multiple purposes- lets you continue an outing that might get cut short by a minor incident, or maybe it saves your life, or perhaps even allows you to more effectively help someone that needs assistance. my advice is invest the money, get a good suit, select some good baselayers to wear inside for different conditions and then go out and do it like a pro.

low cost aquasock/watershoes work great with these suits, I get them 1 size larger and they are perfect, protect the integrated suit socks and work great on the Mirage drive and for moving around on the kayak, like having slippers on...

Go to www.nrs.com (Northwest River Supply) - they have everything you could possibly want - from sun shirts to dry suits and every manner of clothing for paddling that you could ever want. The quality is excellent - I have several items from NRS and everything was as advertised.

I was able to purchase it at a company called OUTDOORPLAY for $430 free shipping/no tax...they had a discount going on, so I jumped on it....
A good deal compared to other places. I think I'll also use it for surf fishing, especially with the "relief" zipper.

We went with just the Kokatat Hydrus pants and various tops since we're in relatively mild waters. The construction is impressive.

In the last week I tested my new Typhoon PS220 Xtreme Drysuit, it's just incredible. I was in the water for 8-9 hours daily and the weather was cold.

For fishing, it's hard to beat a Kokatat angler suit. They're reinforced in the areas that anglers are tough on drysuits. They go on sale from time to time, and also pop up used in decent shape occasionally.

That typhoon dry suit looks sharp. Also like the Kokatats. Fortunately for my climate, dry and angler/paddling suits are overkill. Our water temps never go below 80 degrees and often closer to 90. So hypothermia is not a concern. What is a concern, is when it rains and or cooler morning winds TI spray while sailing. Being unprotected other than PFD/shorts/stretch ons can get chilly, sometimes shivering. So for a solution, thanks to this thread, I went with a Kokatat Tropos Otter Jacket I picked up on sale for $65 shipped and for even further seldom use, a cheap pair of waterproof Frogg Toggs Pro Action Pants, $11. Will be nice to have in the TI for longer trips and rough conditions.

They do not have the wear pads but they will keep you warm. Put some shorts on the outside if you are worried about wearing the seat. Call them they will talk to you. Read their web page they tell you wear they cut cost.

I picked up a Level 6 Emperor drysuit through Three Belles a month ago, and it is awesome. Rear entry, front relief zipper, and still plentt of flexibility. Took it out fishing in some pretty rough conditions Jan 1 and I can say it did its job. They are on tge pricey side, but very worth it, in my opinion.
