Got an early eighties H16 last year and sailed her hard. Replacing and upgrading much of the rigging for next season and am looking for info on various options for trapeze setup. Current setup is old school dogbones on friction stops with no pulleys. We get her hummin' so I'm looking for info on setups that perform. Not lookin for unsubstantiated hype about hot new products, but will buy into new technology that works because we like to sail fast!

I use an adjustable trap for myself (as skipper). Easier to get out and then go low; with a 1" ball on the end of a 3:1 it's easy to raise and lower myself. However, I need to revisit the setup because I don't have the shock cord retract, and it's easy for the harness to disengage. Does that make sense? So for me, the best would be the 3:1 adjustment that I have now, with a shock cord to keep tension upward on the hook when I'm not hanging from it.

Also, I use the key-ball connection rather than the hook. Safer, but not all harnesses adapt well to the keyhole (Bethwaite) type spreaders.
