I normally won't go out until the water here is at least 55 degrees. Even that is pretty cold. I remember one year my first spring outing was on a 95 degree and humid day in mid May but the water was still so cold that I needed a jacket and pants out on the water. There was just a couple reports on the news this week (65 degrees here but water is 37 degrees) about a kayaker that went missing (Kayak found but not the guy) and a guy in an aluminum boat that overturned and he spent like 8 hours clinging to the boat before he was rescued. I love being out on the water but would never take the chance with small boat and cold water.
