I'm a little anal retentive and did not like the poor finish and color of Hobie's power pole mount. The other thing I did not like was the amount of wire that is just flopping around so I sprayed a couple layers of satin black and drilled 2 holes in the mount. It was a very easy modification and I like the result.

Nice mod! I have the battery pack, but if I had to run the normal wiring, I would do something similar. I wonder if you considered running the wiring in the rudder line area since the cover plate is normally removed? that would keep the wiring hidden completely. Just a thought. Tight lines!

I also have the battery but wanted the option just in case I need it. Thanks for the suggestion but I wanted to stay away from the rudder controls and think this way will be better when it comes to keeping water out of the hull.

Thanks

I recognize that mount. I watched your YouTube video and did something similar. My lighting ended up a little different but I pretty much followed your advice on everything else. The bucket is just tacked right now and I still need to do the final plastic welding on the bucket. Not looking forward to doing it since I know I will not be satisfied with my welding. Your video was awesome and I really appreciate you taking the time to make it.

Here are some pics of the installation. I mounted some lights under my Boonedox landing gear to illuminate the seating area.

BTW. Love the wrap job on the mount. I went to a local shop and the price they quoted me compelled me to paint it. Would you be willing to give me an idea of how much they charged you to wrap it?

I'm glad you found my videos useful. Your PA looks great.

I'm not sure what he charges for the wrap...he did it as a favor. I believe he said to do the front hatch was around $80.

I'm pretty sure the mount would cost even more since it is not flat like the front hatch. The guy I talked to wasn't 100% sure but estimated the cost to be between $150-200. I went to their shop on a Friday and was told the estimator wouldn't be able to look at it until Tuesday so being impatient I decided to paint it. Figured I could always take it back and have it wrapped if I didn't like the paint job.

Thanks again for the video. I really like the way you wired everything.
