How could I increase the purchase on the mainsheet traveler on my Getaway? I would like to add a block somewhere on the rear crossbar. Has anyone done this?

Usually best to sheet out to use the traveler, so if trying to move the car under load... ease the sheet, then travel.

I have not seen this done, but... Add the block at the stock line anchor point in the middle of the beam... return the line end to the car and tie off. That would give you 2:1.

In medium or big wind, you normally want to drop the traveller, if you want to bring it back up, wait to the next tack.

In light wind you can bring it up easily past midships without mechanical advantage, but you need to cleat it somehow.
