For a couple different reasons I had to take My 16 apart this year to be able to store it inside(to much replaced and polished to leave out all winter in MI.), so I'm asking for tips for putting the frame back on the hulls before I try it the first time, also two of the posts had small aluminum shims that fell out as I took it apart, is that normal? or something the previous owner did to tighten it up?
If it's not normal should I put them back in? or is there a better way ? they were just flat aluminum not wedges or anything.

Edit: it's a 78

Yes and yes. They must have been in there to tighten up the connections. Trimmed shims from beer cans work. Brass is best.

Yeah, they use beer or soda cans to shim the posts into the corner castings. Usually on an older boat that has seen some wear in that area. Sometimes they jam the aluminum in and then pour in some epoxy to lock everything in place. I am not sure if I would like that or not. Guess it depends on how motivated you are to get some speed out of the boat. My boat is an '83 that I think was lightly used up until the time I got it. Still pretty tight and once I have the lacing all tight I can pick up the opposite hull with about 3 inches of sag.
