The dealer we work with (economy tackle in sarasota fl) is very very good with great knowhow and knowledge. We have bought 6 hobies from them now and perfectly happy with every one of them. All the dealers are locally owned and operated and likely make most of their money on sales, service, and auxillary sales of things like kayak racks, pfd's, fishing equipment and such. Becoming a regular customer where they recognize you has great benefits such as return items, questions about equipment, as well as reasonable costs for repairs, and trust about their ability to doing a hull repair, putting in new rudder lines, etc, or add a particular mod. In my case I had one of those welded HD carts with the bad welds that I had bought from there a couple years earlier. I brought it in and showed it to them. The guy dissapeared and came back 5 minutes later with my wheels, and spacers mounted on a brand new frame and just handed it to me saying, yea we had a minor issue a while back with these carts, here is a new one (with the problem fixed), we'll send it back to hobie. Result one very happy and loyal customer, who will always bring my business to this outfit, even if I have to pay a little more, it's well worth having access to their advise and expertise, where they know my name. They also have a very active Island sailing club where people like me get together with similar interests, vs some stuffy traditional sailing club. FE
