The Hull number reads:

CMQ3475M82B
-AI-

It's an older Hobie Cat, I couldn't find much on it besides "Hobie Alter, Signature Model". It has been left out doors for an extended period of time, seems to be solid, needs a good power washing and some work. No sails, and needs all new hardware and halyards. The owner doesn't want it and is going to cut it up soon, beings that I'm handy I'm trying to see if its worth fixing up. Im not a sailer but I'd love to learn, please give me advice on if its worth it or not?

Austin

1982 Model. Nothing more is known by the serial number.

Sails and rigging is expensive, so unless you can find used somewhere, you may want to pass.

Beings that I'm landlocked in Pennsylvania and craigslist not really being a hotspot for catamarans. Is there another place that one could look for used rigging and sails?

Check eBay. I just searched "hobie 16" and "hobie 16 sails" and found a bunch of stuff, including cheap used sails and cheap (or inexpensive) aftermarket sails.

There's also a complete Hobie 16 with all rigging, sails and trailer in Lebanon, PA with buy it now for $999; says it has hull damage so with your good hulls, ya got a complete boat! with lots of spare parts.
