Hi everyone, I moved from CO to Merritt Island, FL last year and am new to kayaking (not to fishing). Ordered a new Outback (received in October), I'm somewhat obsessed with ocean fishing in the yak (and occasionally the Banana River, etc). Weather permitting, I fish out of Port Canaveral almost daily, can't get enough.
Huge Thanks to all the creative minds for ideas to personalizing my yak, whether it's retractable anchor systems & trolleys, rectangular hatches, penny-tech yak crates or fish bag recommendations-your tips saved me countless hours outfitting my yak that I ended up being able to fish instead. Although I don't spend much time on the computer these days, I finally registered to at least express my Thanks to the forum-what a great resource.
Fish on and cheers,
Natalie

Natalie, If you ever have time to visit Fort Lauderdale or the Pompano Beach area, there is a group that puts together a kickass kayak fishing tournament http://www.extremekayakfishingtournament.org/ and I would say 75-80% of the participants are using Hobie Kayaks. You could get some really good rigging ideas just by walking the beach and taking pictures on the morning of the next tournament (August 12th).

Thanks Matt and Jcanracer for the heads up! One of my offshore fishing buddies has entered the sailfish tournament a while back and also told me to check it out, sounds like a blast. Gonna put that date in my calendar and see if I can get down there to look around :D
