Sir Ben ran great races today and took the first. But even after their dramatic Huli, and quick work in the repair shop, the Kiwis were just too fast and furious. Time for the Brits to go fishing. Ben was very gracious about it.

The Swedes are extremely competent, and are giving Barkers Team Japan a real pounding.

So far, there have been plenty of breakdowns and brainfarts to go around. Every race is worth watching.

MAN OVERBOARD!!

The Swedes just lost their skipper @ 30mph, and it cost them the race.

The good news is, he won the diving competition!

It is GREAT to see Team NZ facing stiff competition; I wasn't expecting that. Must be the Aussie skipper on the Swedish boat

That kid is hot. He really has the boat dialed in. Never seems to make a mistake. Not whilst on board anyway,..

I watched my first Cup race yesterday (actually taped it and watched today). It was great!

I've been thoroughly enjoying it as well though its hard to access downunder. The local media basically ignores it and the only time it made the news was when NZ pitchpoled.
I'm torn with who to support. NZ could almost be an extra State of AU, but with the Aussie skippers etc on board it's complicated. Tom Slingsby is a local (I actually served him a couple of times years back when he was after Laser parts and I was working at our then Hobie/Laser dealer), Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen (Artemis) are almost locals, growing up on Lake Macquarie (Slaughters playground just a bit North)
It's now 4 to 2 for NZ despite Artemis winning every start and first mark.
Looking forward to the rest of the series! 8)

It looks like the rest of the series may be short!

Good one Tony!
Technically you are right, though the headlines are claiming victory by Kiwi Peter Burling, he is only the helmsman and is outranked by the skipper, right, so Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! ...

OK, by that logic Aussies were defeated in all the other races...

I felt sorry for Barker and team Japan. He had the biggest axe to grind, and was aching to come back stronger than he did.

Would have made for great TV.

SNIP

Ha! We Aussies have found a way to win the Cup (again ) without the troublesome pain and expense of actually building a boat! Cool eh?

Yes, the American boat was thoroughly outclassed today!
