Planing on selling theese H18 seaway blocks on ebay, have any of you guys any idea what they are worth? what can I ask for them or expect getting?

The Base block has had that small pin mechanism removed so it does not have a ratchet feature any more and spins freely in both directions

Appart from this this setup worked fine on my 18

I´ll paste the link to the sale on ebay when I list it

Thanks for your help

Old Seaway's remind me about when I had an 8 track stereo in my car. I came out one morning to discover someone had broken in and left me ten tapes.

If you find someone who has never used Harken Blocks he might pay alot for them but anyone who has used harken goods will have a hard time going to these. I really don't miss my original Seaways, but I did go from a 5:1 to 6:1. I might pay a few bucks for them so I could make a great solo mast raising system.

I used my old Seaway blocks to hang the mast in the garage, thats about what they are worth. I just gave a set away that have been on the top of my garage for 5 years.

This interests me as I still have these on my H18 and have never tried anything else. What is the advantage of changing (as in what do I gain and what do I give up - I assume the gains are of good things and the things I give up are bad things). Also what are the prefered replacements.

As to what to ask on eBay, I have sold off a lot of my left over old British sports car parts and I just put the stuff up with a very small starting price and I was always happy with what the final price was. So my advice to you would be to just list them with a small price and no reserve and let the market pick the price (that is assuming they do not have a 'value' to you anyway).

Search Ebay's ended items and find a similiar auction. Then set your prices bassed on what they have sold for in the past. I would probaby set a buy it now for a bit more than they normally sell for, and set your reserve at the normal selling price.

I just spent $215 on a carbo-ratchamatic triple for my 14. I hope it is worth the extra $60 it cost over the standard ratchet block.

I've sold the same seaway setups for $60.

In order
1)My seaway blocks had no ratcheting and so made holding by hand the main on windy days quite hard.
2)The cam on the seaway was useless!! I´m sure the harken cam will be easyer to hook and unhook the line.
3)The 6:1 setup with the Harken 2140 and the 2605 is much neater than the 3 single top seaway blocks that allways twisted and twisted my line.
4) Weight the harken setup is about half the seaway setup´s weight

What do you guys think?
Adrio did this help¿?

Someone mentioned they purchased the ratchmatic version. is this really worth the extra $$$?? the way I see it...windy conditions i click the ratchet on, low winds click it of...a couple of clicks a day wont hurt :)

Here are the links to what i purchased

Yes, very much. Thank you. I did find the cam a pain to engage and disengage, sometimes I have to enlist the aid of my toes :).

Time for me to troll ebay for something better.

The Seaway ratchet is down the center of the sheave. The thumb roller just above the jaws engaged and dis-engaged it. There is a small (spring loaded) stainless spike that clicked along the center ridges when engaged.

This block is missing the ratchet hardware.
