Mr. Bounds. I was wondering if you knew when the last paper copy of the hotline was sent out. The March/April one. I believe I joined HCA before they were printed but I'm not sure. Thanks.

The mailing list that we used for the Mar/Apr issue with was generated on 1/31/07 and included '06 and '07 membership to that point.

If you'd like a copy of that issue, just let me know. I've got about 150 extra copies sitting in a box in my garage.

Renew your membership in the class association, Doug, and I'll be glad to send you one. They're not free.

It costs the class about $3 a copy just to print them. First class mail is about $1.35 - and that's going up in about a month.

The $35 it costs to join the class won't even buy you a tank of gas these days.

Doug:

I'm not going to judge your financial situation - the cost to join the class is minimal. Until then, you are welcome to download the low-res version of the HOTLINE that's posted on the web.

BTW, the people in HCA Division 6 are not "black sheep".

Definition: A black sheep is a member of the group/family regarded as a disgrace, an embarrassment, a ne'er-do-well, the odd man out.

HCA Division 6 chooses not to run HCA sanctioned events. That's their perogative. While I am personally disappointed that they have chosen that path, it does not make them "black sheep".

Point of clarification: The country is divided into sections, called Divisions by the HCA-NA. My region is known as Div 7 by Hobie Class Association. Yours is div 6 by the Hobie Class Association. The black sheep in any Hobie divison are the people/boats that are not Hobie. If there is ever a national open catamaran association put together, they can divide the country up however they see fit and call it whatever they want. Hobie divison designations are just that: Hobie designations.
Never deny who you are man. I am a friggin' hobie sailor.

Guys:

I have been a Hobie sailor since 1979. Started with a 16, then a 14 Turbo and now a 17. I now have a Mystere 4.3 also and am looking ar maybe getting a Blade f-16. We just have to many other boats in our Div to go Hobie only regattas. If we did there would be maybe 5-8 boats a regatta. Can't run a regatta with that few. Yes it is Hobies choice and I hold nothing against them. We just decided to run Open regattas.

Doug

:) Mike, go to http://www.hcana.hobieclass.com/
select class info, then member list. Lists all members and their location. BTW, did not see your name on the list.

As far as I know, there are only two current class members in HI, although there are several others who are not current.

Dan Williams is the Division chairman.

I know they just reinstated a fleet on Oahu. Should be more members soon.
