Hello, I have a Hobie PA14 and an Ocean Malibu Two XL. After using the PA14 for fishing, I'm thinking on selling the Ocean and buying another Hobie Mirage Kayak for two. I'm debating between the Oasis and the Compass Duo. I will use this other kayak for 'touring' with the wife (beachday, kayaking to nearby key islands in the Caribbean, 45 to 90 minutes each way). With the Malibu, we used to carry beach chairs, umbrella, two small coolers, drybag and beach bag. (with either the Oasis or Compass Duo, we won't need to carry chairs).

Looking at the pictures of the Oasis and the Compass, it seems like the Compas Duo has more room for storage than the Oasis. Is this true or is just the way the images look?
What is your recommendation? I like the 180 drives of the Oasis, but I think I could use the 180 of my PA14 on the back seat of the Compass and leave my wife with regular Mirage. I read somewhere that the rudder for the Oasis is better than the Compass Duo, but having the rudder under the kayak (like the PA14) seems better.

I'll appreciate your comments to help me decided on our new Hobie.
Thanks

I just recently watched a couple of comparison videos on YouTube on these boats. As usual it comes down to what you/yours preferences are. Yes I think the Compass does have a bigger rear tank well. I've heard many people say the Oasis/Outback seats are more comfortable than the Compass seats. I personally don't like the angle the Compass seats are but honestly that can be changed with a small block placed under the rear part of the Compass seat to raise it slightly. The Compass is 1" wider than the Oasis. Not sure if that means the Compass is more stable but the videos I watched both said it was slightly more stable but at 33" wide the Oasis should still be stable for 2 people. You also get a front hatch with the Oasis and maybe more importantly rudder steering handles at both seats whereas the Compass you get one steering handle at the rear seat. The Compass gives you 4 molded rod holders where the Oasis only has 2. Just looking at videos I would lean towards the Oasis myself my again it's personal preference.
