'82 Hobie 16 w/trailer for sale: $1,200. This is my third Hobie and we've owned this boat since 1998. Flipped only once in 22 years (tacking error with pregnant wife). It has been well-cared for and handles perfectly, always sailed for leisure (not raced). We don't use it much anymore; age and health have begun to limit our activities. Located in Oklahoma.
Trailer: Cat-Hauler; new tires/wheels/bearings; lights/wiring need replaced (new LED lights/wiring/plug kit included with trailer); 12" PVC sail tube is accessible from both ends; holds main/boom (assembled and bagged), jib, rudders/arms/crossbar (always stowed in tube when trailering), rigging, etc.
Boat has SOLID hulls (serial #CCMQ6954M82G). NIB hull ports (never installed them). NEW black mesh tramp from SLO Sail (installed one day each of last two summers for one day sail, then removed and stored) includes pocket and sheet catcher, new lacing. Rudders are white, perfectly adjusted for light pressure to windward, clean and smooth.
Sails (#68946) are 1980 Nationals Hot Flash (main and jib matching), main needs one batten socket repaired, jib needs small 'L' shaped tear (1"x1" near window) taped (tape included in sale). All battens are in great shape; not sure whether stock or upgrade. All batten caps are quick-adjust type (upgrade). Jib travelers are Harken upgrade.
Rigging: Mast is NOT comp tip. Jib has Aussie rigged halyard and includes spare Aussie halyard set. Side stays are NEW, heavy upgrade with vinyl coating; removed and stored as with tramp). NEW Righting system (under tramp) is Aussie type and is stored (installed and removed with tramp). Mast stepping hinge and lots of extra stuff included with sale.
Tie-downs are self-reeling ratchet straps between stainless eye bolts on trailer and corner castings.
