Hobie Compass Humminbird Side Imaging Transducer Mount HELP

I've had good use of my Revolution 12 for kayak fishing and recently got a Compass with 180 drive and love it.

However, I am looking for ideas on mounting my Humminbird side imaging transducer

Side Imaging does not work in the Lowrance pod. I don't want to pay $60 for the adapter not only due to cost but it exposes the transducer to possible damage.
However if others have done this without issues and clear imaging I'd consider it.

I am looking for solutions that would mount the transducer inline with the boat keel.

I thought of rigging up a V shaped mount that angles into the water at the stern. The transducer would be mounted at the TIP of the V with the open end of the V attached to a pivot attached at the stern handle mounting screws. The transducer would float below a small more elongated V made of high density foam (cut up boogie board)

This way, the transducer would automatically be self leveling and self protective as it would swivel up if it hit anything

Appreciate any thoughts or other solutions

I might use longer screws and some spacers to get the plate a little more clearance so the SI transducer can protrude out from the hull a bit more.

Following.

I'm seriously considering the BerleyPro transducer cover, but have similar concerns.
An arm is still an option I am considering.
