Weight capacity- includes the individual?

Hello. I searched on this topic since I feel like it's probably been covered here before but I couldn't find my answer.

For the weight capacities on Hobie kayaks does that include the person's weight as well as gear or just the gear? For example the Revo 13 has a weight capacity of 350 lbs. Does that include the weight of the person in the kayak?

That is the total capacity of the kayak, which includes the weight of the kayaker(s) plus gear

Yeah that's what I figured. However I keep hearing on message boards about manufactures including Hobie having weight capacities that does not include the weight of the person(s) in the kayak.

That would make no sense. Yes, persons are included in Hobie's capacity specifications. Persons are typically the major variable and highest percentage of weight in a kayak. Imagine a 300-pound guy not being included in the spec? Anything added beyond the standard gear in included.

These are though... somewhat less than exact. It is what we determine to be a safe load.

Lol I know it's a silly question yet I had someone disagree with me saying the capacities do not include the person(s) since he had supposedly called manufactures and received his info first hand.
