Hi all,

New to this Forum and looking for something to do during quarantine. I am looking to get my PA14 out of my garage and have bought a large rail system with some rollers that I have planned to install under my deck. I plan on wheeling the kayak to my backyard, setting the bow on the first roller, pushing it forward and then attaching the back roller around the stern. Under the deck will be enclosed eventually as well. The only thing that is holding me back is trying to find what type of material to hang the kayak with that will be the least likely to warp the kayak in any way. I was thinking some type of outdoor heavy fabric or some sort of cargo netting that I could use to spread out the weight distro. All suggestions would be appreciated. I could really use that extra garage space!

Thanks!!!

Maybe roll it over the netting or wide straps and then hoist?

Since I have 2 rollers the net would be seperated on each one. I would probably position them midway up the bow and midway down probably at the wisest points on the kayak. But yes, essentially slide it right in and secure it with a rail cap so the rollers don’t slide back out.

I just don’t know if a heavier cargo netting would damage the hull or sides under the weight it would be on. I’m trying to think of something I can leave outdoors in the elements that would provide the support I need to hang the kayak and has the stretch to not really harm it.

I have been storing my PA12 on 3inch wide straps for about 1.5 years and no problems with distortion.

if I can figure out how to add a pic I will share my set up..

That would be fantastic! A strap would be best because I can bolt it on the roller. Glad to hear there is no distortion over that amount of time! A pic would be great! Thanks!
