I'm looking at buying a 2014 getaway that's kept on trailer under tarp and sailed several times a year on a lake.

When should I expect to start replacing lines, rigging, sails, etc?

What usually needs to be replaced first?

Thanks

Is this how the getaway was stored or how you will store it?

Are you planning on racing every day or cruising every month?

What is the ave temp where it is located and how much UV do you get?

What does it look like needs replacing now after 6 years?

Sunlight rots the tramps and the lines; high wind flogs sails and causes early need to replace. Salt water corrodes wire rigging.

Basically, though, a Getaway is pretty maintenance easy compared to other boats. Plastic hulls will last a long time if not pushed hard and if the boat is assembled correctly. Polyester lines are pretty much UV resistant. Stainless will last a long time in fresh water environment. Tramps that are stored away from sunlight will last a very long time--and you can renew the UV coatings (paint). It is a fun fast cheap boat.

Yes, that's how it was stored. I will store the same.

We will just cruise once a month.

Probably stored at average of 80-90 in the summer. Covered with tarp so UV shouldn't be an issue.

I haven't actually been to see it yet.

Thanks for the info!
